Cooperative Director Neal Harth was honored as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award
During the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association annual meeting December 1 in Salem, Wasco Electric Cooperative Director Neal Harth was honored as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.
The award recognizes policy-makers of member systems who have demonstrated remarkable service to public power.
Neal has served as a member of the Wasco Electric Board of Directors since November 1985. During his 26 years of service, he has taken on many leadership roles at the co-op, including serving as secretary of the board for five years, vice president for one year and as president for 16 years.
Neal serves on various co-op committees, and is dedicated to the training and education of directors and employees. He is a certified credentialed director through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association director education program.
In addition to his service to Wasco Electric Co-op, Neal served four years as a director of ORECA, including president of the board. He has served on the board of directors of the Northwest Public Power Association since 2004 and is the immediate past president of the association.
Neal is highly respected locally, regionally and nationally for his efforts on behalf of rural electric co-ops and other public power consumers, and has been involved with political action. He is well known and respected by our congressional delegation and Oregon state legislators.
