Rate Increase Begins October 1
The Bonneville Power Administration is finalizing its new wholesale power rate. At the time of this writing, it is anticipated the increase will be around 8 percent to 8.5 percent.
However, this wholesale increase in the cost of power is only part of the final rate impact to your cooperative.
Beginning October 1, BPA also is changing its billing structure. Depending on how an individual power system’s load compares to the shape of the generation output of the federal system, the final rate impact could be smaller or larger than the 8 percent.
Based on the combined wholesale increase and the new billing structure, Wasco Electric is facing a 12 percent to 14 percent wholesale rate increase.
How this increase relates to the final retail rate to you, the member, is still being evaluated. We are reviewing the draft cost-of-service analysis just completed. Once this is finalized, the staff and board will develop a final retail rate.
I can assure you that through this process, your board of directors and staff are committed to doing all we can to lessen the impact of rates to the members, yet still provide reliable service today and into the future.
